Billy Abshaw

As the Principal of BA Concepts, I use my career history, experience and knowledge base to create lines of communication through any medium.

The concentration of my experience in marketing communications developed as Manager, Media Programs for Philip Morris USA (PMUSA), based in New York City. From July, 2000 to June, 2004, I served as the spokesperson for the marketing group of the largest domestic tobacco company. I managed media attention for all of the brands of PMUSA to include promotions and events. In addition, I also served as spokesperson on all issues related to diversity relations.

Prior to my time at PMUSA, I functioned as a working journalist. From November, 1996 to November, 1999, I first sat on the international news desk for Reuters Television News, but quickly went on assignment as a business journalist for Reuters Business Network, based in Washington, D.C. I spent my time interviewing business news makers and reporting on issues relevant to consumers, occasionally covering the stock markets as well.

Though Reuters concluded my time as an active journalist, the 5 years prior were also quite active. From 1991 to 1996, I worked as a journalist for television, radio and print in a multitude of roles. My assignments included working in Washington, D.C. for NBC and MSNBC and in Cleveland, Ohio for the NBC and CBS affiliates, WEOL news radio and Ohio’s largest newspaper, The Plain Dealer.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Toledo and also a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Cleveland State University.

Born and raised in the Cleveland metropolitan area, I still hold strong ties to the community as well as extensive networks in New York City, Chicago and Washington, D.C., where BA Concepts is based. I travel frequently throughout Europe, Canada and the United States and can manage attention at the local, national and international level.
